Friday Fives: The experiences at the Michelin Pilot Sport Experience 2016

Invitation only, but here’s why you should go win a ticket to the Michelin Pilot Sport Experience

It’s an invite only event but you can win a seat at the Michelin Pilot Sport Experience that Michelin Malaysia holds on a yearly basis and receive the experience like no other.

The Experience started way back in 2006 and has grown throughout the 10 years since it was first started, Michelin has expanded the Pilot Sport Experience to include more activities that will further demonstrate the capabilities of their tyres making the Experience the company’s key annual event in our region.

2016’s MPSE will be held across two months, August and September, and five lucky winners of the Michelin Pilot Sport promotion contest and three winners of the Michelin Driving Passion online campaign joined a few members of the media, 600 Michelin dealers, brand stake-holders and influencers at the Sepang International Circuit to enjoy a number of driving activities that you otherwise won’t experience anywhere else.

Driving a touring car

These Renault Clio IVs are specifically created for touring needs and are tuned for racing. You will need adequate manual transmission skills to be able to drive this car smoothly or else you will find yourself stalling the car numerous times.

Slalom driving in an Audi A6 Quattro

There are two A6 Quattros on track for you to practice your safety driving skills, but the main aim is to experience the awesome gripping power of the soon-to-be-launched Michelin Pilot Sport 4. They’re extra grippy compared to the competitor’s tyres of the same range.

Piloting a Rally car

We’re still curious how Michelin got their hands on these Citroen DS3 R1s. But the fun part is that you get to navigate around a short sand track to experience why Michelin was specifically chosen for rally racing.

Chasing the Scirocco

OK, it’s not about chasing down that decked out Scirocco, the instructors will be driving those cars while you pilot these Formula 4 cars around Sepang. These babies don’t stall like the Clios but they are zippier then the touring cars. This is probably a once in a lifetime opportunity to drive and open wheel racer and experience what good tyres will give you and why F1 cars have a tyre wear problem.

Hot lap in one of these

A Lamborghini Gallardo and *drum roll please* a specifically tailored made Formula Le Mans 2-seater exclusively designed for MPSE. You won’t be driving them but experiencing the tyres when put under massive pressure by professional drivers. Warning: make sure you can feel your legs before stepping out of the car! Even organisers have reported that many a strong man collapsed in a heap of racing clothes after a round in Sepang at full speed.
