ZF Malaysia do their part for nature and charity

Automotive parts supplier, ZF Sales and Service Malaysia (SSM) raised funds for local charity home via a recycling campaign.

With the goal of contributing to  the community, ZF SSM launched the recycling campaign in early October 2016. Gathering the combined efforts of nine spare part dealers, ZF's intention is to instil the recycling habit in the automotive industry.

The nine dealers were YonMing Auto & Industrial Parts Sdn Bhd, Syarikat Selayang Muhibbah Sdn Bhd, Megamix Sdn Bhd, Rimbunan Kuasa Sdn Bhd, Klang Yew Huat Auto Parts Industries Sdn Bhd, Stuttgart Parts Centre Sdn Bhd, Dongfeng Commercial Vehicle (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, Kai Yuan Auto Parts Sdn Bhd and Gee Hup Auto Supply Sdn Bhd.

ZF's efforts were massively successful with a total collection of 18,855 kilograms of old automotive parts and machines. The scrap value of the total collections amounted to RM 9428 which was then combined with ZF SSM's staff contributions to a total of RM10,000. This amount was gratefully divided and donated to the Selangor Family Aid Association.

“Social responsibility is an integral part of ZF SSM’s corporate culture. To us, as a corporate citizen, it is our duty to contribute towards the well-being of the community. We are so humbled by this opportunity to make a difference, not only to the environment we live in, but also in the lives of the residents of the Selangor Family Aid Association,” said ZF SSM Managing Director, Mohd Syahrul Yusuf.

The welfare home for the age and handicapped was established in July 1988 and shelters 85 residents aging from 19 to 94. Having no sustainable funding, ZF SSM's contribution will be of much help. The RM10,000 donation was divided between paying outstanding utility bills and purchasing of essential needs for the home which included garbage bags, instant noodles, milk, rice, disposable cutlery and a food trolley.

This isn't the first time ZF SSM has reached out to help the locals. Some of their past outreach programmes included a visit to the Assunta Children Society in 2012 and also relief efforts for the  Kelantan flood victims in 2015. ZF SSM, a responsible corporate citizen, have a vision to embed a strong sense of community and giving among its employees.

“On behalf of the residents and administration, I thank ZF SSM for their kind assistance. Our home is often overlooked by potential donors because our application for tax exempt status was unsuccessful. This contribution from ZF SSM is most appreciated as it helps us to cover our everyday basic necessities like food and utility bills,” said Selangor Family Aid Association President, Dato’ Seri Pusparajah Gunaratnam.
