Rolls-Royce gives a first peek on their Project Cullinan SUV

This all-new luxury SUV will also be making its public testing starting December 2016

We’ve got the Cayenne from Porsche, Bentayga from Bentley, and the Levante from Maserati. And soon enough, Rolls-Royce will also be participating in the luxury SUV scene as they introduce their own candidate for the segment, known for the time being as Project Cullinan.

Project Cullinan has been running for quite a while and Rolls-Royce has been keeping a tight lid on it. But after a long time waiting, we can finally have an idea of how this new luxury SUV will look like as the marquee recently released a batch of images of their new “all-terrain, high-sided vehicle” to the members of the public.

“Bringing together the new four-wheel drive system and the new ‘architecture of luxury’ for the first time sets us on the road to creating a truly authentic Rolls-Royce which, like its forebears, will reset the standard by which all other luxury goods are judged,” said the Chief Executive Officer for Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, Torsten Müller-Ötvös.

While the SUV is still disguised in heavy camouflage, these photos at least could give us a rough idea of how Project Cullinan will look like. Packing a wagon-like body style, Project Cullinan still has the distinctive characteristics of a Rolls-Royce and it somehow does look like a Phantom on stilts.

The first engineering mule has been shown to their advocates which was built for the development of the all-new all-wheel drive suspension system, as well as to test the new aluminium architecture that will underpin all Rolls-Royces from 2018 onwards.

Rolls-Royce will be taking Project Cullinan to various locations all over the world such as the Arctic Circle to undergo cold weather durability and traction testing. It will also be travelling to the Middle East in 2017, this time to endure the scorching temperature and challenging desert conditions.
