​Mercedes-Benz keeps up the beat

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia is proud to present their flying sales number


There is no unhinging Mercedes-Benz Malaysia from the top of the Premium Brand ladder apparently as the brand set a new record in sales once again in 2016. According to MBM, this growth is largely contributed by the investments of MBM’s local assembly, continuous enhancements of Mercedes-Benz premium service and customer experience combined with a large product portfolio.

“In the first nine months of 2016, MBM recorded 9,047 vehicles delivered to customers, which represents a 10 per cent growth compared to the same period last year. Further extending our market share to 2.4 per cent,” added Vice President Sales and Marketing, Passenger Cars, Mr Mark Raine.

Understandably, what with a total of ten new models launched with two still on the way, MBM has a very diverse product portfolio that will ensure anybody, even the person with the strangest taste would find a Merc that they will like.

Spearheading the sales number is, of course, the limousine line. 3733 units of the C-Class rolled out of the show rooms and into dedicated homes in the first nine months. That is a 90 per cent jump compared to 2015! Not surprising considering MBM has expanded the C-Class range to include the C180 and the newly launched C350e

The E-Class and S-Class on the other hand recorded 1463 and 821 units sold respectively. Both seeing a drop in terms of sales number. But Mercedes-Benz expected the drop in sales what with the E-Class going through a transition period to the new Masterpiece of Intelligence and the S-Class due for an update.

Over in the compact car segment, the refreshed A-Class is enjoying a massive hike in sales with 829 units finding homes nationwide. That is a 21 per cent increase compared to the first nine months of 2015. The CLA and the GLA both saw a decrease in demand with only 480 and 473 units sold respectively, but MBM is not worried as they’ve only just renewed the CLA and the GLA is planned get some refreshments by mid-2017.

Mercedes’ SUV segment continues to grow steadily as nine months since its introduction. In the midyear financial announcement saw 483 units of the GLC making their way to families, as of September 2016, MBM has increased that number to 964 units sold. The GLE and the GLE Coupe also grew in sales with 190 units sold.

MBM has been actively expanding their Dream Cars portfolio. Just this year alone, the Dream Cars collection saw the introduction of C-Coupe, SLC and the C-Class Cabriolet. So it’s not a surprised that the Dream Cars collection rounded up MBM’s overall position with 195 units rolling out the show rooms in the third quarter of 2016.

With the growing demand in Mercedes-Benz cars, MBM has increased the number of models that are produced at their factory in Pekan, the two new additions being the new E-Class, the GLC and the company’s new PHEV, the C350e. MBM is also working on a new warehouse in Pekan to further increase production of their cars.

In terms of after sales services, MBM is also proud to announce that Quarter 3 recorded the highest throughput in the history of servicing. This quarter has seen a grand total of 79,917 vehicles across Malaysia enter the Autohauses for their scheduled service. The record Customer Satisfaction Index that MBM has accumulated in midyear maintains at an all-time high.

It looks like MBM’s Agility Financing package is also finding favours with a huge community. The Agility Financing programme has helped further support the brand experience by the offerings of the in-house financier, Mercedes-Benz Services Malaysia Sdn Bhd. MBSM reported that they have recorded a year-to-date servicing portfolio of RM1.8 billion. That’s an 80 per cent jump compared to last year.

MBM has been reporting an ever increasing number of sales since 2015 and they don’t seem to be slowing the rhythm any time soon. Watch out for Thursday as we cover the launched of two SUVs. We’ll give you a hint: one is as long as a snake and the other slouches and curves on the top.
