McLaren releases scale models celebrating special editions and icons

The 570S, 675LT, P1 GTR, and even the legendary F1 XP-5 are now available in scaled form!

The McLaren 675LT is already considered a very light supercar in the market today. The extreme weight saving move by the Woking outfit had managed to shave off almost 100kg from its original form, the 650S. But that is not the lightest form for the 675LT just yet as McLaren had recently revealed one with a 99.99 per cent weight reduction, of course, at a scale of 1:43.

Made with the greatest attention to details, the 1:43 675LT is just a part of the scale models showcasing McLaren’s supercars chosen to celebrate special editions and icons charting the brand’s history. Crafted by Minichamps, the diecast model is finished in Chicane Grey, similar to the one that made its world debut at the 2015 Geneva International Motor Show. Also, available in 1:43 is the TSM 1993 McLaren F1 XP-5 which to date still holds the world record for the fastest normally-aspirated car.

Securing 23 victories, 39 podiums, 27 pole positions, and three championship titles, the McLaren MP4-12C GT3 is also available in scaled form, finished in its iconic McLaren Orange. The purely impressive McLaren P1 GTR is not missed out as well, bearing the iconic yellow-and-green Harrods inspired livery which was made famous by its predecessor when it competed in the 1995 24 Hours of Le Mans.

And the latest addition to join in the diecast family is the 1:18 McLaren 570S Coupe which was handcrafted by Tecnomodel. Painted in eye-catching Vermillion Red, the paintwork is not the only highlight of the model as this scaled down 570S is full of details from head to toe.

The scale model features two-tone red leather and dark grey Alcantara seats and gloss black wheels with red calipers. The carbon fibre and the sills that highlight the silver 570S badge on the driver’s side are actually hand painted. To beautifully display the whole model, the 570S sits on a carbon fibre effect cushion with a 570S badge modelled to the one on the real car. We would expect owning one of these masterpieces is not going to be easy nor cheap as only 50 of such examples will be produced.

Aside from focusing on the icons, the collectibles also feature the launch colour schemes of McLaren road cars like the specially-created Solice for the 675LT Spider and Pacific Blue for the 570GT. All the models created by TSM and Minichamps come either as diecast or resin models and both parties worked closely with McLaren Automotive to replicate the real cars as close as possible.
