ISUZU's mu-X takes the crown at the Borneo Safari 2016

The 7-seater SUV from ISUZU took home the Vehicle of the Year award at this year's Borneo Safari.

There could be no better way for Isuzu to mark the debut of the mu-X SUV in the Borneo Safari International Offroad Challenge than to win the 'Vehicle of the Year' award.
This year's event was the toughest one yet and even caused a two-day delay due to daily rains that  hindered the participants progress. The slippery muddy conditions and trying trails truly pushed the 430-strong convoy to their limits.

Throughout the entire challenge, the mu-X seven-seater SUV proved indeed what a remarkable piece of engineering it is. Emerging from the event successfully without any modifications to the standard 2.5-litre VGS turbo intercooler diesel power plant and five-speed automatic transmission, the mu-X wears the 'proven-at-Bornero-Safari' badge with pride.

Borneo Safari Organising Committee Chairman Faez A Nordin said, “Yet the Isuzu mu-X performed flawlessly, even in the ultra-tough hard core section of the trail that stretched some 30 km from the entrance arch near Kampung Garung to Timberwell Camp that took three days to complete. It did not require any change of spare parts or any repairs, which speaks volumes of its quality and reliability,”

Isuzu Malaysia Sdn Bhd Executive Director Hajime Machimura expressed delight that the Isuzu mu-X Monster made a successful debut and emerged with its reputation enhanced.

Isuzu, who have been sponsoring the famous off road challenge for the past 10 years, did rather well all together at the Borneo Safari 2016 having the three D-Max Monsters also successfully complete the challenge. A happy coincidence as well since Isuzu just launched the updated range of D-Max and mu-X last week.
