A new face for Hyundai's people carrier

Hyunday Sime Darby Malaysia introduce the face lifted Grand Starex Royale for 2017.

Despite being with us since 2007, the Starex has changed rather less over the years. This time Hyundai have taken a stronger approach with styling to capture buyers attention.

With the updates being strictly cosmetic, the people carrier gets a new stand out grille that is sure to get your attention given its chrome accents. Matched with a redesigned bumper, the fog lights are reworked too, featuring a daytime running lights style. New Side skirts, rear bumpers and a little roof spoiler add a sportier touch along with integrated exhaust outlets.

The 2.5-litre CRDi VGT diesel engine and five speed auto gearbox remain unchanged from the model it replaces. With an output of 167bhp and 392nm of torque, the MPV isn't going to win any races but is pretty decent. The power band is short but easily accessible from 2000 to 2500 rpm. ESP system is present to keep things in check while other features like Cruise Control and Safe Drive Recorder makes things more convenient for the driver.

Buyers have the option to choose from three exterior colours- Creamy White, Timeless Black and Hyper Silver. Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors have a class leading five-year or 300,000km warranty on its passenger vehicles that ought to tip the odds in its favour.

Priced at RM168,888 (OTR with roadtax and insurance) the Grand Starex Royale promises good value for money. View, test drive and book the new Starex at any Hyundai showrooms nationwide from December 2016 onwards.
