Honda Malaysia increases scope of recall for Takata airbag scandal

Customers urged to immediately replace once parts are ready and will be notified by post

Leaving no stone unturned, Honda Malaysia has added a further 24,962 units of 2012 model year vehicles under the recall for defective Takata front passenger airbag inflators as a precautionary measure.

The models involved in this recall are the Accord (2012 YM), Jazz (2012 YM), Jazz Hybrid (2012 YM), City (2012 YM), Freed (2012 YM) and Insight (2012 YM).

As always, Honda Malaysia will be informing affected customers directly via notification letters which will include details of the product update. Customers that receive the letter are encouraged to head to their nearest Honda authorised dealer for an inspection and replacement if necessary as soon as possible.

Furthermore, all authorised Honda dealers nationwide will increase their stock of new inflators to cater for the additional models recalled.

Replacement work will commence once the parts are ready and the cost of parts and labour will be borne by Honda Malaysia.

Additionally, Honda owners can also check their vehicle’s recall status either by logging on to www.honda.com.my or www.productrecall.honda.com.my or by calling the Honda Toll Free number at 1-800-88-2020.

Honda Malaysia reiterates that all its current selling models are not affected and will continue to uphold transparency and stringent controls to ensure customer safety. Owners of Honda vehicles affected by the airbag inflator product recall are advised to immediately get their vehicles checked and parts replaced at any Honda Authorized Service dealers or Mobile Hubs as soon as possible.
