Caltex continues to aid education growth

Chevron Malaysia's Caltex Fuel Your School Programme reaches out to more schools and children in Malaysia.

Partners with the charity organisation, MyKasih Foundation, Chevron Malaysia Limited have been organising the Caltex Fuel Your School programme since 2012. The 2016 programme has reached out to public schools in Kelantan and Pahang as well.

A grand total of RM250,000 has been allocated to support the classroom funding. To raise proceeds for the fund, on the month of July 2016, Caltex gave RM2 for every purchase of RON95 and RON97 at selected Caltex service stations in the states of Kelantan and Pahang. That fund will be used to provide learning materials for subjects such as Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.

Ever since its birth in 2012, this programme has funded 187 classroom projects in 97 schools and an overall of 60,000 students have benefitted from it. Chevron's "Energy for Learning" campaign aims to combine the efforts of local communities and organisation bodies to support the cause. Malaysia can add itself to the long list of countries where Fuel Your School has made a positive impact.

A main issue teachers complain is that they simply do not have the tools to provide the education. This programme attempts to eliminate that issue as much as it can by providing teachers with the resources and materials they need to give the students the learning they deserve.

The students get their share of fun too as 50 classroom projects will be awarded for their creativity and innovation in the use of project materials. This experience give the students a hands-on learning opportunity with a reward incentive.

Chevron Malaysia Limited’s Country Chairman, Shahid Ahmed has acknowledged that education is a key role in the country's pursuit of economic growth and national development. "We want to promote innovation and economic development and pave bright futures for our young leaders of tomorrow" added Mr.Shahid Ahmed.

MyKasih foundation is grateful to Caltex for the 5 year partnership which has come a long way in accomplishing the MyKasih Foundation's mission to assist students in their pursuit of academic excellence.
