Toyota Eco Youth returns for its 15th year with a whole new challenge for their participants. By Jerrica Leong

It felt like it was just yesterday that Toyota concluded their Eco Youth contest. Come February 2015 and we see Toyota announcing the launch of the 2015 at the Concorde Hotel Shah Alam.

This year, participants were presented with a new challenge that will raise the eco contest to new levels. 16 schools will be competing to come up with the most creative way to combat the massive problems caused by waste. Toyota believes that apart from the key elements of Reduce, Reuse and Recycle, more can be done to improve the management of waste.

It’s been 15 years since Toyota established the Toyota Eco Youth program as part of UMW’s Toyota Motor’s three key CSR pillars. The program had been initially an in school activity and continues to grow throughout the years to include places in the community as well. To date, close to 200 schools and more than 1500 students and teachers have benefitted from the program directly.
