Ever since news reports about the Genesis breaking Australian NCAP history with a score of 36.88/37, the world over has been curious about the car. Hyundai’s new luxury sedan sets a new standard for premium sedans with all the features that are jam-packed into the 4990mm long and 1890 wide body.
The Genesis’s design is based on Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 language both inside and out. The exterior’s core element design is a harmonious simplicity with refined “in-motion” design aesthetics. The Genesis maintains the signature Hyundai hexagonal grilles while the cockpit is designed base on the Human Machine Interface (HMI) which allows drivers to intuitively recognise switches and their function for easier control while driving.

Not only will you get an interior finished in full grain premium Nappa leather and plenty of leg and head room, the Genesis also comes equipped with the latest technologies like an advanced driver infotainment system which displays details on an 8-inch touch screen. CO2 Cabin Sensor monitors the air quality in the cabin and a Head-up Display (HUD) projects information on the windscreen to aid drivers along with the help of the Bi-Xenon headlights.

Enjoy a brilliant sound experience with the Lexicon Discrete Logic 7 Surround Audio System with the 14 speakers installed throughout the car. The system also includes HD radio and iPod/USB auxiliary media input jacks.

The Genesis is built atop an advanced high-strength steel that now has a 16 per cent stiffer torsional rigidity and is 40 per cent stiffer bending rigidity as compared with the first generation architecture. That rigid chassis houses a 3.8-litre V6 GDI engine mated to Hyundai’s very own eight-speed automatic transmission to deliver 311bhp at 6000rpm and 397Nm at 5000rpm to the rear wheels to power the car from 0-100kph in 6.5seconds.

Hyundai also armed the Genesis with Multi-Link Suspensions at the front and rear to give the car better ride and handling performances while the Motor Driven Electric Power Steering (R-MDPS) that comes with variable gear ratio provides stability at high-speeds and direct response at low and medium speeds.

The Genesis has too many safety features to count. you get the usual slew like the ABS with Brake Assist system, ESC with Vehicle Stability Management and Traction Control System. Nine airbags are installed throughout the car including front and outboard rear seat-mounted side-impact airbags.

Driver assistance systems include Blind Spot Detection with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, Smart Cruise Control, 360 degree Around View Monitoring System (AVM) paired with Smart Parking Assist. The Sonata’s Smart Trunk System is also available in the Genesis.

You get all that along with eight years or 300,000km warranty on the powertrain and a standard five years warranty or 300,000km service for RM388,921.52 on-the-road without insurance. Make your pick from a choice of Marble White, Platinum Silver and Onyx Black and a choice of two interior trim colours: Beige Two-Tone and Black one-tone.
