Hyundai’s Elantra seem to be attracting a younger crowd more and to satisfy their demand for a sportier version they have launched the Elantra Sport Edition.

By popular demand, Hyundai Sime Darby Motors (HSDM) has decided to launch the attractively priced and sportier version of the facelifted Hyundai Elantra. HSDM will only sell a limited number of 999 units across the country and they are confident that the Sport Edition will be met with favourable response from their customers.

The bonnet houses the same Gamma 1.6-litre MPI D-CVVT powerplant mated to the same six-speed transmission. Also available in the Sport Edition are the same active and passive safety technologies to ensure maximum protection for its occupants such as the Ultra-high Tensile Strength body, ESC (Electronic Stability Control), ABS (Anti-lock Braking System), VSM (Vehicle Stability Management) and HAC (Hill-Start Assist Control) – applicable across all variants.

But that is where the similarities ends, the Sports Edition will come with full sport body kit for the front and rear bumpers as well as side skirts. The rear will receive twin-tail exhaust pipes covered with limited edition stickers. Inside, Hyundai has installed a 6.2-inch Audio Visual In-Car Entertainment that allows for radio, DVD and Bluetooth functions, while an add-on reverse camera is available as an option with an additional price tag of RM300.

To make it more special, the Elantra Sport Edition comes only in Creamy White and Phantom Black covered in the limited edition car decal in the shape of a barcode and serial number that runs from 001 to 999 to mark your edition number.

Hyundai is offering the Elantra Sport Edition for only RM91,928 on-the-road without insurance. With the addition of the Sport Edition, HSDM is now offering five variants for you to choose from. So if you’re looking for a spiced-up Elantra be sure to put your name down for one as soon as you can, there are only 999 units available after all.
