Honda Malaysia takes pre-emptive measures

Owners of fourth generation Honda City and third generation Jazz should take note.

Honda Malaysia announced that they will be offering a product update to a total of 12,232 units of the fourth generation Honda City and 97 units of the third generation Honda Jazz on the CVT software.
The improper use of the hydraulic pressure control software involving the Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) has prompted Honda Malaysia to take pre-emptive measures to rectify the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). The problem is caused due to the quick stepping and releasing of the accelerator pedal at high speed, high hydraulic pressure will cause high stress to be generated to the drive pulley shaft and this may cause the shaft to break and the cars to experience a loss of power when driving.
All affected customers will be informed via notification letter, the letter will also include details of the product update. Owners who received the letter are advised to send their vehicles to the nearest authorised Honda dealer for inspection. All updates are free of charged.
Honda Malaysia would like to take this opportunity to assure all their customers that the company is committed in its mission to sustain the best product performance, hence this pre-emptive measure to update all affected vehicles even though there have not been any incidents reported.
Other current selling Honda models are not affected by this product update.
