Honda Malaysia announces recalls over airbag issue

87,812 Honda vehicles are affected, owners will be notified. By Chris Ng

On the back of a recent announcement that there are actually more cars afflicted with Takata-itis, Honda is taking steps to replace those troubled airbags before they blow up. This round, Honda Malaysia will be contacting 87,182 owners to bring their Honda car, or cars, in for a precautionary update. While there are no reported cases of crashes or injuries related to this issue in Malaysia but it is still prudent to take note and get your Honda rectified as soon as possible. In this update, Honda will replace the affected airbag inflators with newly produced ones.

Here’s a list of cars that are affected:

Jazz     2006

Front Passenger Airbag
City         2003 – 2008
Civic       2003 – 2008
CR-V      2002 – 2007
Jazz        2004 – 2006
Stream   2004 – 2005

Honda will be directly contact owners of affected vehicles via notification letters, which includes details of the product update. Once you receive this letters, you should quickly head down to your nearest Honda dealer for inspection. Of course, cost of parts and labour will be borne by Honda Malaysia. You can also call Honda’s Toll Free 1-800-88-2020 to find out more. Honda wishes to communicate that they deeply regret the inconvenience caused.
Honda Malaysia urges owners of affected Honda vehicles to get their vehicles inspected and parts replaced at an authorized Honda dealer as soon as possible.
