New Ford Focus gets the EcoBoost treatment

Time to shift your focus to the brand new Ford Focus powered by the company’s award winning EcoBoost engine.

The brand new Ford Focus is here in Malaysia and it looks better than ever! Not only has the looks improved, the company has also given this Focus the EcoBoost treatment. So you now get a similar turbocharged engine like the Fiesta EcoBoost under the bonnet only in a 1.5-litre form.

Like the fiery like Fiesta sibling, the 1.5-litre engine has just as much kick to it producing numbers like 178bhp of power and 240Nm of torque and making the car the most powerful of its class. The EcoBoost engine is mated to six-speed SelectShift automatic transmission that also has a set of wheel-mounted paddle shifters to make the car feel sportier.

Not only will the Focus provide a lot of fun, the car is also packed with modern technologies and safety features. Not only is the Focus equipped with SYNC 2 which displays itself on an eight-inch colour touchscreen, there are also the benefits of the Ford MyKey that is found on the Ford Mondeo.

Along with the six airbags, the Focus is also equipped with numerous other features like the enhanced Active City Stop to mitigate low-speed collisions. Driving assist features like BLIS to help drivers maintain awareness in every angle is joined with Cross Traffic Alert that uses three distinct warnings to alert drivers of approaching vehicles coming from different directions from up to 40-metres.

Of course the most interesting of the systems are the Enhanced Active Park Assist which is an extension of the already familiar Parallel Park Assist only with the addition of Perpendicular Park Assist. You can even let the car exit the parking space itself when you select the Park-Out Assist.

So you get all that packed into one stylish package with a modern interior to match. Ford claims that the systems are now configured to be simpler and more intuitive to allow drivers to effortlessly control.

The asking price for the new Ford Focus Trend, or in other words the hatchback version, is RM118,888 on the road without insurance while the Focus Titanium+, also known as the sedan, sets you back another RM21,000 at RM139,888 on the road without insurance. As for the sporty Ford Focus Sport+, Sime Darby Auto Connexion has priced it the same as the Titanium+ at RM139,888.

Make your pick from six colours namely Frozen White, Panther Black, Ingot Silver, Candy Red, Magnetic, and Winning Blue. Now about the RS… may I get a show of hands for who wants to see that spunky hot-hatch on sale here?
