BMW Group Malaysia appoints new CEO

Mr Folger isn’t the only CEO we are bidding goodbye to, BMW Group Malaysia says goodbye to Mr Alan Harris.

BMW today announced that they will soon see the retirement of Mr Alan Harris, Managing Director and CEO of BMW Group Malaysia. Harris has been heading the group since 2013 and will retire from duty effective 1st January 2016.
Under Harris’ direction, BMW Group Malaysia saw the strengthening of the group’s position in Malaysia. Harris was instrumental in bringing in several key initiatives including introducing several new models to be locally built in Malaysia such as the BMW X6 and the BMW 1 Series, the creation of the first BMW World Malaysia program, the expansion of the BMW Group Parts Distribution Centre Malaysia in Johor and the BMW Group Malaysia Headquarters in Cyberjaya as well as introducing new BMW dealerships in Kota Bharu, Kelantan and Batu Pahat, Johor.
Harris’ replacement is Mr Han Sang Yun. Mr Han has over 20 years of experience in the automotive industry in his native country, Korea, where he played the role of Head of Sales for the BMW Group in Korea. He was also responsible for Marketing and Product Management for the premium automaker in the country.
Moving forward, Mr Han will be applying his experience and knowledge to further drive BMW Group in the Malaysian premium automotive segment and to identify new opportunities for growth in tandem in Malaysia’s ambition to be an automotive hub in South East Asian region.
We look forward to seeing BMW’s future plans with Mr Han at the helm and we wish Mr Harris all the best in his retirement.
