Bentley Team Absolute confirms participation for the upcoming 2017 RACE123

2016 GT Asia title holder to commit two to three Bentley GT3s for the inaugural Korean endurance race

Having secured the 2016 GT Asia title, Bentley Team Absolute has already lined up plans for their future conquests. One of the many plans they have is the RACE123 which will be taking place at the Korea International Circuit in Yeongam Jeollanam-do, South Korea, from 20th to 22nd April 2017.

Never heard of such race before? Well, that is no surprise as this will be the inaugural running of RACE123 and the official announcement of the Sporting Regulations was only made six weeks earlier. Ever since then, the race has attracted interest levels from race teams all over and the first of many teams to confirm their participation in this endurance race is Bentley Team Absolute.

“We are pleased to have the first official participation announcement from Bentley Team Absolute for RACE123 next spring. As the 2016 motorsport season is almost over, I feel that the overall interest in RACE123 is rising positively from both local and international teams,” said Mr. Hongsik JEON, Managing Director of J’s Consulting.

Organised by a Korean company, RACE123 will take place at the Korea International Circuit and like the name hints, teams will have to complete 219 laps which will cover a total distance of 1230km. The race will consist of five classes: the GT3, GTC, Sports Production, Touring Production 1, and Touring Production 2. A handsome reward of USD 500,000 awaits the winners at the finish line and RACE123 aspires to be among the world-class endurance series running today.

Absolute Racing was first established back in 2010 and has grown to be one of Asia’s leading motorsports outfit in the region today. Having entered a lot of well-known race series like the GT Asia, Asian Le Mans Series, Porsche Carrera Cup Asia and Pirelli World Challenge, they were reorganised as Bentley Team Absolute in 2015 and was appointed as the sole motorsports organisation managing Bentley’s Customer Racing in Asia and the United States a year later.

“Racing in Asia is growing bigger and better with every season and we are committed to moving forward and growing with it. We were seriously impressed with China GT last week, while both GT Asia and Asian Le Mans Series continues to be key championships globally. We are also entering Korea’s first endurance race, RACE123, at the Korea International Circuit in April,” said Brian Gush, Bentley’s Director of Motorsports.
