Audi’s triple threat set to make Sepang 12 Hour return!

The Four Rings lines up three R8 LMS for Malaysian endurance race assault

The final round of the Audi R8 LMS Cup might have already taken place at Shanghai, but there is no rest for the Four Rings just yet as one of the most anticipated endurance race is closing in very soon. The 2016 edition of the Sepang 12 Hours endurance race will see Audi lining up three R8 LMS race cars piloted by nine drivers, all gunning for a spot on the podium.

The R8 LMS race cars have proved their worth last year as they dominated the podium with a staggering 1-2-3 victory. The resurfaced circuit has proved itself to be more challenging as seen in the Round 5 and 6 of the Audi R8 LMS Cup in Sepang earlier this year, and it will be very interesting to see how the cars will fare in a 12-hour race.

Audi Sport Team Phoenix will be represented by two teams where they will look forward in continuing the strong display of performance. The #15 R8 LMS will be piloted by FIA GT World Cup winner Laurens Vanthoor, accompanied by Christopher Haase and Robin Frijns. The #16 R8 LMS on the other hand is represented by an all-German line up of Pierre Kaffer, Rene Rast, and Markus Winkelhock.

The Thai-based B-Quik Racing is also eyeing for the GTC class podium with Audi R8 LMS Cup Masters Cup champion Daniel Bilski behind the wheel. He will be teaming up with Henk Kiks and Peter Kox in the race to the top.

The qualifying session for the Sepang 12 Hours will start on Friday, December 9th at 3pm, while the official race will kick off the next day at 12pm and ends on Sunday, December 11th at 12am.
