SIC looks to redef1ned the Formula 1 experience

There are only four more races to the 2016 Formula 1 Malaysia Grand Prix! Here’s what’s installed for you…

Believe or not it has been 18 years since the first Malaysia Grand Prix was held. Who remembers the last time the Malaysia Grand Prix was held in October? It was way back in 2000 when two of the greatest Formula 1 drivers of all time were going head to head with each other. While Michael Schumacher had won the race, Mika Hakkinen was the one who walked away with the fastest lap that year.

Formula 1 has come a long way since the year 2000, to think back then when the race was held on the 22nd of October we were the closing race of the season! But now in 2016, we’re slotted right after Singapore and we’ll be hosting Round 16 of the 2016 season. Practice will start on the 30th of September while Qualifying will be held on the 1st of October and the race on the 2nd.

Working along the lines of the 2016 theme, Experience Redef1ned, SIC has prepared a number of festivities that will start even before the F1 paddock moves into the garages of the circuit. To kick off the F1 festivities, there will be live showings of the Formula 1 races with contests happening alongside it.

SIC is also taking advantage of the back to back races and inviting all fans to join the special Formula 1 Tour where the cars will make their way from Singapore to Sepang. The tour will be stopping at specific locations in Johor, Malacca, Seremban and Kuala Lumpur before heading straight into the garages. So if your life’s dream is to get up close and personal with a Formula 1 car then this is your chance!

Other than the usual fan favourites like the Driver’s Autograph Session, Malaysian School Pit Lane Walk, Drivers Fan Forum, SIC has also prepared a Formula One Gamezone where fans will find the latest enhanced simulator machines in the Mall area. They’ve also prepared a special Formula One Village where fans can shop till they drop buying all the merchandise to show their support for their favourite teams.

For the 2016 Malaysia Grand Prix, SIC is bringing in the GP2 and GP3 race series to the track. This is the first time ever the junior series is coming to Malaysia and the decision was mainly prompted by two of our local boys racing in each of the series. Nabil Jeffri is currently 21st on the points table in the GP2 series while Akash Neil Nandy, winner of the 2016 McMillan Woods Rising Star Award in the Chequered Flag of the Year category will be racing in the GP3 series with the Swiss team Jenzer Motorsports.

Other than that, SIC is also offering 50 per cent discounts on tickets when you catch the tour at one of their stops. This year, SIC is also offering a new ticket package. It’s called the VIP Team Tribune and fans have a choice of Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 team, Scuderia Ferrari or the Red Bull Racing Formula One team. This package will offer ticket holders with a round trip on an executive coach from Nu Sentral to Sepang, a meal served by hostesses and team merchandise of their choice. They will also be allocated seats at the special tribune zone with other fans of the same team.

This year, the after concert will be held at the Star Stand rather than the helipad for priority viewing of the concert and a great view of the circuit during the race. SIC has also made sure to make things more convenient by setting up food trucks at the Star Stand area in addition to other amenities.

Like and follow SIC’s Facebook page and Instagram account to stand a chance to win a special opportunity to engage with their favourite Formula 1 stars. The prizes also include an exclusive private pit tour, a private meet and greet session with drivers and exclusive merchandise.
